CRAFTSMAN DINING TABLE
When we released the Plans for this piece back in January of 2017, we had every intention of producing a companion video series. Interestingly, at the time we were preparing to record the sessions, the invitation to host the PBS TV Show, Classic Woodworking came around. Naturally this project went off our radar.
Many people have enjoyed building this table and like you, have ordered the Plans for assistance. To offer some visual help, we put together a webpage highlighting some photos of Tom’s experience building the table, the mini model he made, and the finished product from a few angles. They give some ideas about the build overall.
In addition, the first three photos are of a mini-model Tom made prior to the formal build so that he could see the way the design construction would work and if there were any elements that needed to be adjusted. The remaining images highlight the construction process. And don’t miss the Shop Night Live episode providing glimpse of the model and the design concepts behind the table.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This Craftsman Dining Table has unique features as well as an inspired composition. Influenced by the Art and Crafts design period, it has a contemporary triangulated base, along with a concealed space to store two leaves under the book matched top. When the leaves are in place, you can enjoy large group dining with friends and family around this expansive table. When not in use, simply stow the leaves away in the special compartment made to conceal and protect them.
